French Toast… Filled with chocolate

French Toast… Filled with chocolate

I learned this recipe from my mother: an excellent way, not only not to throw away the bread, but also to recycle it, and make it a good “delicacy”, for breakfast or even for a snack; for a revisit of this method, I added a personal touch, which is the "chocolate garnish".

Parents would be reassured that their children take a healthy and balanced meal: a caloric and energetic contribution of bread, egg, chocolate and sugar... Sometimes we find ourselves without flour or baking powder at home, so this idea may well save us if our children are demanding, or if, unexpectedly, guests arrive unexpectedly.

Many households cannot "stop" from consuming "bread", so this idea is not only very interesting and very useful for all thrifty people, but also very practical and easy to do, and in a short time, without forgetting it is very nutritious.

You can also use, for this recipe, an ordinary baguette, sandwich bread, or even brioche bread… the Goal and above all, but, above all, to try not to Throw anything away…

Ø Ingredients :

·          Baguette bread not too stale

·          1 egg

·          2 tablespoons of yogurt, diluted with 2 tablespoons of water;

·          1 pinch of vanilla (or lemon or orange zest): but if the yogurt is flavored, you can leave out any flavoring;

·          ½ teaspoon of cocoa (optional);

·          Chocolate squares.

Preparation:

1.                Cut the baguette into thin rounds;

2.                In a skillet, heat the oil over medium heat;

3.                In a bowl, mix the egg with the diluted yogurt, vanilla and cocoa;

4.                 Take a slice of bread, put a square of chocolate in the center then close with another slice (of bread);

5.                 Immerse the slice of bread in the mixture in the bowl then fry on both sides: over heat, the chocolate will melt then stick the two slices of bread together;

fry on both sides in a skillet over medium heat:

6.                 Drain on absorbent paper;

7.                 While still warm, coat the golden bread slices in sour (or just sprinkle them).

Serve warm, with tea, latte, milk or black coffee... Enjoy your meal.
