Homemade yogurt without yogurt maker: easy recipe

 Homemade yogurt without yogurt maker: easy recipe

I learned this recipe from a cousin of my husband, but with personal touches according to my means and also to vary tastes.

Yogurt is rich in Calcium, essential minerals for healthy teeth and bones. It also contains vitamin B as well as “Riboflavin” (Present in food, it is also one of the rare vitamins to be partially manufactured in the body by intestinal bacteria, but in insufficient quantities to cover needs) which help protect the heart and central nervous system.

Whole milk yogurt also has vitamin A.

Thanks to a high content of potassium, magnesium and phosphorus, yogurt facilitates the regulation of blood pressure.

It is – fortunately – possible to make “good” yogurt at home, with few ingredients and without a yogurt maker.

When we prepare anything ourselves, we are “sure” of the quality of the additives chosen, and it always remains a pleasure to please the people we love.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

·        1 liter of milk;

·        5 tablespoons of sugar (or a little less);

·        1 pot of yogurt (of your chosen taste);

·        Flavor of your choice;

·        Fruit of your choice (optional): for this time, I chose to add a banana

Preparation:

·     Bring ½ liter of milk to the boil;

·     Put the other ½ liter in a salad bowl, or in a pot...;

·     Add to the latter: the sugar, the pot of yogurt then whatever you want: vanilla – for example – in pod or powder, a crushed banana, peaches or apricots, strawberries, Forest fruits… cut into small pieces;

·     Pour the boiled milk over the cold milk mixture: mix – delicately – everything;

·     Cover and leave to “ferment” for – preferably – 12 hours in a warm place or at room temperature;

·     Refrigerate before serving.

Yogurt can also be equipped with ground seeds, such as flax seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds, etc. or even dried fruits, appetizers (almonds, walnuts, etc.) in powder form, and it is no less "delicious” if it remains – quite simply – a “flavored yogurt”.

And enjoy your meal.
